History

The Cincinnati Landmark Eagles Football began as a ministry of Landmark Christian School
and then continued as a ministry from Landmark Church after the school closed its doors.
From 2006 to 2013 Coach John Steinkoenig (Steiny) ran all aspects of the team, coaching,
scheduling, equipment, and more. The church paid his salary and the finances of the team
were managed by the church. Steiny passed away in 2013.
In 2015, Landmark Church decided to sell the property and no longer wanted to administer a
football sports ministry. A group of dedicated parents elected a parent board and created the
501c3 non-profit organization we have in place today. The board worked with the City of

Sharonville and found a park to use for practice, a POD storage unit for equipment and a multi-
sport field to use for games.

In 2016, Cincinnati Christian Schools (CCS) found they were no longer able to field a junior high
or varsity football team. After a few meetings between CCS leadership, CCS football parents,
and Landmark, we moved our practice facilities to CCS. We were blessed with the use of a
practice field, locker rooms, and equipment rooms along with off-season weight room
availability.
In 2018, Landmark Varsity joined the Great Lakes Christian Athletic Conference (GLCAC).
Landmark won the GLCAC and attended the National Homeschool Football Association
(NHFA) Tournament that year finishing 2nd overall.
In 2019, the Landmark Eagles Cheer Team was established under the leadership of Coaches
Cheri Bush and Debi Cottings. That same year, the varsity football team finished 3rd in the
GLCAC that season and traveled again to the NHFA Tournament.
